Milton Keynes Breakers are delighted to announce the signing of British-American guard Ben Baker for the 2025/26 season.

Born in Brighton, the 6’ 2” guard moved to California at a young age and attended Seattle Pacific and Southern Nazarene Universities, where he showed strong play-making abilities as well as a love for the physical side of the game.

A gritty defensive presence with an impressive nose for rebounding, Baker-McCann is a player we’ve tracked for some time, and the new Breakers Head Coach was thrilled to help secure a deal that will bring him to Bletchley Leisure Centre.

“It’s great that we’ve been able to pick up Ben for this year,” Ben Stanley said. “There was mutual interest last season and we jumped at the chance to complete that deal this year.

“Ben brings us some physicality at the guard position as well as the ability to create for others with a solid basketball IQ. He’s also worked hard during his college career to improve his shooting and that’s a great addition to his game that we are looking to maximise.”

Much like he has throughout his career, the man himself is all business. “I’m excited to have this opportunity to contribute to the club both on and off the court,” Baker said, “but most importantly I’m here to win basketball games!”

Everyone at Milton Keynes Breakers wishes Ben every success in the 2025/26 season.

MK Breakers make the journey to Ipswich this weekend as they face Ipswich Basketball in the fourth round of the National Cup with a tip off scheduled for 3pm.

The Breakers will be looking to return to winning ways after suffering defeat against Hemel Storm in the league last weekend and you can show your support for the Breakers in Sunday’s 3pm clash at Copleston Sports Centre.

The National Cup will always hold a special place in the hearts of the Breakers’ fans after last season’s heroic run saw the Club become the first team outside of the top flight to lift the prestigious cup in over 50 years. The Breakers will be hoping to achieve the same feat this campaign, but will be aware of the upset Ipswich will be looking to cause.

Endeavour Ipswich Basketball currently sit 11th in NBL Division Two, but will welcome the break from league action and relish the chance to make a run in the National Cup. After a first round bye, Ipswich overcame University of East Anglia in the Second Round of the tournament before recording a win over Cambridge Cats to set up Sunday’s tie with the Breakers.

Lee Linton-Hodges has enjoyed a successful start to the season and currently places in the top 10 for efficiency in NBL 2 with 110.0, he also places joint first in the division for rebounds with 14.3 and joint second for blocks with 2.

Adrian Scaborough, meanwhile, is leading the Breakers in efficiency with 112, a score that places him seventh in NBL 1 – he’s also had the second most rebounds in the division with 11.8 per game. KJ Johnson has led the scoring for Breakers with 19.4 and has impressed from the line with a free throw percentage of 86.2%, he’s also shown his creative side with an average of 5.8 assists per game.

MK Breakers lifted their third trophy of the season as they overcame Team Solent Kestrels 86-68 to be crowned 2024 NBL Division 2 Playoff Champions.

Rewatch the game here.

The Breakers returned to the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester having lifted the National Cup in the same arena back in January. This time they faced Team Solent Kestrels, the side they battled alongside all season before lifting the NBL Division 2 title.

The Kestrels were the last team to defeat the Breakers back in October, when they upset the odds at Bletchley Leisure Centre to hand the Breakers their only ever home loss, 80-87. The Breakers have since gone on a 30-game win streak, claiming the National Cup, NBL2 South League and Playoff titles in the process.

Jordan Spencer was crowned MVP as his 26 point, 11 rebound and 11 assist performance led the way for the Breakers. Chris Tawiah also put in a clutch performance with 21 points and 15 rebounds on 9/12 shooting – with Nate Robinson (17) and Dante Langley (12) also hitting double digits.

It was a quick start from Billy Beddow’s side as Chris Tawiah’s five points within the opening minutes opened an early advantage for the Breakers. It was Isa Brandon who opened Solent’s scoring for the evening before his three point effort put Solent ahead. A three point effort from Ashley Briggs followed shortly after to extend their lead to four points.

The frantic start soon calmed down as both sides struggled to find their feet in the clash with Solent holding a 10-4 lead five-minutes into the Final. Spencer scored his first points of the evening to bring the Breakers back to within four, but Solent would bite back to push their lead to eight points.

Buai Luak checked into the game and immediately scored two points from the free throw line before Spencer added two more points to his tally – bringing the Breakers to within four points. Solent pushed back to lead by eight, however, Spencer netted five points in the final 30-seconds to reduce the lead to 18-15 at the end of the opening quarter.

It was Solent who scored the opening points of the second quarter as Briggs scored twice from the free throw line. The same man then added a further two points to open up a seven point advantage. That lead became four after Will Issekya’s three point play, however, Briggs quickly made that lead six. Spencer’s two successful free throws followed by his steal and lay-up reduced the game to a two point game and took Spencer to 11 points.

The Breakers drew level after Tawiah converted his two attempts from the free throw line, but Briggs put his side back ahead with his lay up. That advantage didn’t last long as Tawiah became the second Breakers player to hit double digits with a lay up of his own.

Spencer continued to add to his tally, converting two free throws after yet another foul from the Kestrels. Langley then reduced the lead to one point with his three point effort, Brandon pushed his side back ahead to three before Spencer made three consecutive free throws to draw the sides level. Solent then retook the lead with seconds remaining in the opening half, but Spencer continued his impressive work from the free throw line levelling up the scores at 38-38 at the break.

Dante Langley scored the first points of the second-half as he put the Breakers ahead before Spencer followed up with two points of his own. Having returned after treatment for his bloody nose, Freckleton converted an impressive driving lay-up before Tawiah and Langley helped the Breakers put up an eight point lead.

Solent hit straight back and made it a four point game with two quick lay ups, before Briggs made the game a two point match. Nate Robinson pushed the Breakers ahead to five with his three point effort, before Freckleton’s three point play put the Breakers up by eight. Chris Tawiah continued his impressive performance with his dunk taking his tally to 16.

Robinson made the lead 10, but Solent hit back in the closing seconds of the third to bring themselves to within eight points. Spencer was then fouled in the closing seconds of the third and took to the line for three free throws. He scored all three to ensure the Breakers lead 61-50 heading into the final quarter.

Brandon reduced the lead to nine as he scored the first points of the fourth, before the same man made it a seven point game seconds later. Robinson pushed the Breakers back to nine with his driving lay-up. Briggs scored two free throws to bring the lead back to seven, but Robinson sunk yet another three points to put the Breakers ahead by double digits. Tawiah took that lead to 12 points after he picked up an offensive rebound before dunking his way to another two points.

Brandon converted a deep three to bring the Kestrels to within nine, Spencer added a point from the free throw line to bring the lead back to double digits. Lloyd produced a possible shift in momentum when his three point effort saw the lead reduced to seven points with five minutes left on the clock. Robinson, however, did the same to restore that 10-point lead. Dante Langley wanted in on the action as he converted a free point effort of his own to push the lead to 13 points. Chris Tawiah made that lead 14 as he converted from the free throw line with just four-minutes left to play.

Dadds, however, was eager to ensure that wasn’t the game as he put up three points, however, Robinson hit back with a crucial dunk. Langley pushed the lead to 15, with Chris Tawiah making it 17 seconds later following Frecklton’s steal. Brandon converted his free throw to give his side some hope, but the Breakers ball management helped them see out the final seconds of the game.

Spencer added another two points from the free throw line as chants of MVP rang around Manchester as the Breakers completed the historic treble with an 18 point victory.

Join the team at the Club’s second annual Awards evening, Wednesday 1st May, 6:30pm at MK Sports Bar & Lounge, more information here.

MK Breakers are back in action this Saturday evening as they welcome Ipswich Basketball Club to Bletchley Leisure Centre for their latest NBL Division 2 outing.

The Suffolk based outfit have endured a mixed start to the season winning one and losing two of their opening three games. Their season started with an impressive 89-68 win over London Stars before being defeated 98-68 by Westminster Warriors.

Ipswich Basketball Club then suffered their second defeat of the campaign at the hands of NASSA last Saturday. Despite the two defeats, Ipswich do enter this weekend’s clash as one of the most dangerous teams in NBL Division 2 and will look to cause trouble to Breakers. Ipswich placed third in the NBL Division 2 South table last season, missing out on top spot by just four points.

Breakers, meanwhile, have won two of their opening three games, whilst they have lost once in the league to Team Solent Kestrels.

Those in attendance at Bletchley Leisure Centre in last Saturday’s win over Cobham Cobras will be hoping for more of the same. The Breakers were impressive throughout their 94-73 win, with Head Coach Billy Beddow praising his sides performance.

“The last 20-minutes were great, we kept the focus on us and tried not to worry about the score. The main thing was, the team was playing with excitement, that’s the fun part of Basketball. We competed well and felt comfortable as a team and had big contributions from everyone. We earned the right to play Basketball that way through focus and achieving our goals.”

We hope to see you down at Bletchley Leisure Centre this weekend showing your support for the Breakers. Tickets for Saturday’s game can be purchased HERE

MK Breakers begin their NBL Division 2 campaign and return to KitKing Trophy action this weekend as they face Richmond Knights and Hemel Storm respectively.

Billy Beddow will be pleased with his team’s performances so far this campaign, Dante Langley (19.0PPG) currently sits ninth in the KitKing Trophy’s top ten players for points per game, whilst Jordan Spencer (18.5PPG, 8.0APG, 6RPG) has also excelled

First up for MK Breakers is their league opener against Richmond Knights at Bletchley Leisure Centre – tip-off 5pm.

The Knights missed out on promotion last season by just two points and will bring a good litmus test for Breakers first game in NBL Division 2.

The London based outfit will be making their season debut and will no doubt be looking to impress their fans from the off.

Tickets for Saturday’s clash are selling fast and it’s heading towards a sellout. If you want to avoid disappointment and get your tickets – click HERE!

Attention then turns to Sunday and the KitKing Trophy as MK Breakers travel South to face Hemel Storm.

The Storm were the only team to beat Breakers last season as the two sides went head-to-head in the Semi-Final of the National Cup. Despite two two tier difference, Breakers lost by just five points, and earned plenty of plaudits following their performance.

Hemel have enjoyed a successful start to their season having won all three of their KitKing Trophy Group Stage fixtures.

Seth Swalve has been the one to watch so far for Storm, he’s been averaging 23 points in the group stages. Storm’s Sam Newman has been named in back-to-back NBL Team of the Weeks – alongside Breakers’ very own Jordan Spencer.

If the fixture is anything like last year encounter, the fans in attendance can expect a high-quality game of Basketball.

We hope to see you Bletchley Leisure Centre this weekend!
